You are very special to me.
You being here is very special to me. I appreciate your time and your attention. They are precious and, together, I hope for us to spend them well.
I'm trying to change the world. I know it's naive and audacious to say that, but that's what I am doing. I want to build a community of people and inspire them to make the world a better place.
So, I need a community (yay! thats you!) and I need it to grow, not with just any one, but with the right people.
People who get it.
To find those people I've decided to give the money I might spend advertising on social media straight to charity (let's face it, Mark does not need another dollar from me).
I'm trying this out until Christmas and capping it at $1,000...otherwise I might break the bank. (I can't imagine this many people will join in two months, but that would be pretty exciting if they did!).
I've already started!
We are a small community at the moment but the charity I've chosen is pretty thrilled. 247 people have joined my mailing list as of the 3rd of November 2017 which means Say Their Name got a $247 dollar donation.
My friend Genevieve Timmons created Say Their Name, it provides small financial awards to young Aboriginal women or girls who live, work or study in Melbourne’s inner northern suburbs. The small award is a contribution towards travel, study, training or purchase of equipment to help them strengthen their prospects for employment and to develop their skills and experience for leadership roles in the future.
Giving money to Say Their Name feels really good.
