Asking for help. Drawing Luke Hockley.
I caught up with a friend the other day and was struck, quite unexpectedly, with the need for their help.
Everything was fine…but something wasn’t quite right, and I didn’t really know it. But then it just kind of bubbled up, and there I was needing someone to listen to me.
There was this really clear moment where my mate asked me if I was ok and I nearly glossed over it all and kept the conversation moving.
But then I stopped, kind of mid-sentence, and noticed this feeling of being overwhelmed and alone with some big questions I had, and I decided just to say that.
And then I was no longer alone.
And after a bit of conversation I was no longer overwhelmed.
I would have thought I was really good at asking for help.
Seems like I’ve still got a bit of work to do here.
Love
Luke
