Each stitch takes time. Drawing Luke Hockley.
Each stitch takes time.
The sewing machine would be much faster.
But I’m not doing that.
It is easy to make each stitch much harder than it needs to be.
I notice myself tighten in my hand and arm and neck and back and head.
I wonder...why such a rush?
Then I keep stitching. Sensing how much pressure it takes to get the needle to move through the fabric. Enjoying how it glides through effortlessly if I let it.
This is an arbitrary task that I have set up for myself.
It has no timeframe.
There is a pleasure in constructing something by hand.
A thoroughness.
An honesty.
This is the time it takes to make a shirt.
Each stitch takes time.
Love
Luke.
