Dear Self,

The sewing machine is incredible.

I’ve been hand sewing a shirt for a few weeks now and have been really enjoying the slow process of it all.

I’m still working on the trial run.

There’s this bit on the shirt sleeve called the placket. It is that split in the arm that lets you roll the cuff up.

It's a bit fiddly.

I’m up to 4th iteration.

So, I’ve reverted to the machine to get this sorted.

It really is a machine of sewing.

It is just incredibly quick and accurate.

I love the hand sewing, I’m still making my final shirt by hand, but I am marveling at our ability to make a machine like this.

Let alone a pair of scissors and a needle and thread!

What incredible tools.

How did we make clothing without them?
